ABOUT SURFACE ///  Responding to the function of the space it occupies,Surface attempts to address the very nature of art making. Referencing some of the most basic tools for creating, a collage of objects, light, shadow, and digital screens come together in this still-life installation. The screen operates as a portal that takes ordinary hand tools and transforms them into imagined art objects, but only when viewed through the frame of the screen. The final result is something that moves fluidly between painting, photography, video, and sculpture.
