NEW GENRES COLLECTIVE

DOMICILE - NEW GENRES COLLECTIVE - 2018

ABOUT THE NEW GENRES COLLECTIVE /// The NGC is essentially a school club comprised of student designers and artists at RMCAD although, given our focus on collaboration, we identify as a collective.  The collective was founded by instructors,  Jeff Page, Tobias Fike and student, Alex Killgore.  This collective is technically for RMCAD students only although we regularly collaborate with outside artists and organizations for every project.

DATE /// June 8, 2018

LOCATION /// CURRENTS NEW MEDIA FESTIVAL, Santa Fe, NM

ABOUT DOMICILE /// "Domicile" is a multimedia performance with light, shadow, video projection and sound on the theme of home. Inside an inflatable dome the collective engages in a ‘media jam’. This is a framework the collective often works with: we choose a theme, gather footage, create instruments and audio, construct an installation/performance space, then perform.

The concept of the inflatable dome is a reference to our place of origin, Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design. The geodesic dome is a symbol of the school and its roots in communal experimentation (i.e.- "Drop City"). Thematically, we will be using "home" as inspiration for content. The inflatable will operate as an extension of the school and become a place to incubate creative concepts and thought through experimental performance.
